What does it mean to have a high-powered career?

A high-powered career requires regular self-reflection and periodic reassessment to ensure one's job allows for differentiation and growth, and the motivation to make changes to self-correct the course.

My first major reflection occurred two years into my corporate job. I realized that remaining in my current department would hinder my career trajectory, as I would be evaluated on skills I wasn't interested in developing.

The second reflection came at the three-year mark when I discovered a desire to work abroad in countries with larger projects and headquarters. Leading up to my potential career moves, numerous smaller reflections highlighted the importance of securing support from influential colleagues and the value of mentorship and sponsorship for comprehensive growth and new opportunities.

If you are in the early stages of your corporate career (0-5 years) and are uncertain whether to maintain the status quo or aspire to a high-powered career but don't know where to start, I'd love to help you.

Book a free 30-minute virtual coffee chat (or in person if you are in London or New York), and let's discuss your career goals.
